Privacy notice

Temporary by design

SeminarSmack is designed for live, short-lived classroom interaction. It does not require participant accounts and does not ask for names, email addresses, or other identifying information.

What is transmitted

When a session is live, the session content and participant submissions are transmitted through the configured Supabase Realtime service so the presenter and participants can stay synchronised. The presenter’s browser holds the live session state.

What is stored locally

Session drafts, a temporary browser device identifier, and optional leaderboard nicknames may be stored in browser local storage. Participants should use a nickname, not their real name. Presenters can clear local data by clearing site storage.

Presenter responsibility

Exported responses are downloaded by the presenter and may contain classroom content. Do not ask participants to provide sensitive personal data. The presenter or institution remains responsible for choosing an appropriate Supabase project, retention settings, and lawful basis for their use.

This notice is product guidance, not legal advice. Institutions should review their own GDPR and safeguarding requirements.
